Article overview
How to care for hood filters so a La Cornue cooking kitchen keeps airflow — and when filter care is no longer enough.
Hood filters catch grease so the blower and duct see less of it. They are a cooking-kitchen maintenance item. They are not lint screens, and they are not dishwasher racks — even if a filter is advertised as dishwasher-safe, this article will not pretend a La Cornue dishwasher is a confirmed product on this site.
Remove filters only with power off. Clean them until grease is actually gone, dry them, and reinstall them in the correct orientation. Missing filters send grease into the blower.
If filters are clean and suction is still poor, the restriction or the motor is elsewhere. That is a ventilation diagnosis, not more soap.
Greasy filters are also a fire-load issue. Regular care is safety as well as performance for ranges and cooktops below the hood.
